Amy Calaway inherited an interest in the arts by default. Both of her parents are artisans of varying degree. Her father, Tony Ringler is a draftsman, engineer, and printer. Her mother, Sherry is an accomplished artist and master of many interior and fine finish mediums. She was raised in a very creative and busy household. Together, her parents taught her that anything worth doing is worth doing well and correctly.
Calaway began working with her mother at a very young age, thus the beginning of her education in interior finishes and design. As her mother’s career and bloomed, her knowledge and skill expanded. Through her mother, Calaway had the benefit of working in some of the finest homes within her community and beautiful estates across the country.
Calaway seperated from her mother and started Calaway Design Finish in 2003. By the Fall of 2005, Calaway Design Finish had successfully restored the historic wall finishes and interior wood trim throughout Frank Lloyd Wright’s Westcott House in Springfield, OH. The project is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
In addition to historic projects, Calaway Design Finish is a full service residential and commercial finish company responsible for projects ranging in size from custom range hoods to national retail chains. Their commercial client list includes Giovanni’s Restaurants, Chico, Coach, Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Free People. |
