| Interests |
Such a wide field to try and fill. My interests are all uniquely connected. I take in everything around me that is of any artistic value. What I take in will eventually become a painting of some sort. Nature is one of my primary interests. It holds all the secrets and ingredients to good art. So I become interested in anything that has to do with improving my gift and skill. I love to garden, it\'s where the roots of my paintings begin. I photograph nature to catalogue what I can learn from. COLOR and more color! DESIGN and more design! Of late I am drawn more and more to trees and architectural design such as historical ornaments, which I find extremely connected to nature also. I am not sure why only that there is a reason and I am drawn to learn all about these subjects. I have started photographing trees and architectural elements in my environment to study, but anyone that sees my photography also sees art. Who would have thought? My interests all come back to what I can learn and apply to my work. |

| About Me |
A fine artist for over 30 years, I have only started painting murals and the decorative arts in the last four years. My experience to paint whatever is put in front of me is anything but novice, I strive to always give my best and the growth is continually showing in my work. Married 24 years to a singer/songwriter with three children, I have no special education that has brought me where I am with my art. I didn\'t finish my art degree at McKendree University with an art degree. In fact I changed to an English Literature degree and graduated 1978 with a BFA when the art instructor lowered my grades because he told me he was looking for quantity not quality, it just didn\'t feel ethically right. This event has haunted me to this day, but has brought out the best in me and kept me always striving for quality NOT quantity. I am thankful for the path that I have ended up on. After having three children, around 1996 or so I started painting again just to see where my hand was. I attended classes at a local art studio to brush up on my skills to see how rusty I had become. To my surprise, it was like I had never stopped painting! In March of 1998 I opened up my own art education studio to children as there weren\'t any art programs in the school system at the time. I had been working part time as an instructional aide in the special education department and resigned after nine years to continue and expand my art school. I have been teaching art education to children for almost eleven years now.In the last three years I decided to diversify my skills and make art more of a career. I took a faux finishing course in Louisville, Kentucky. Just this last year I took another class with William Cochran that took my skill level to a new level. I\'ve taken six week courses with a well reknowned artist in St. Louis for years involving anything that interested me and love to render for the last six years or so. Classes such as, Calligraphy, Celtic knot work, watercolor, oils, color pencil, and many more. I continue to educate myself as this industry changes constantly.Currently:I have a licensing agreement with Art Classics, LTD in Trenton, Illinois with Interior Designer Patricia Schmidt.Member of IDAL,MAG, Atrium online.I wrote an article on a mural I painted that was just published in the Winter `08 edition of \"Artisphere\" magazine. It\'s a story about how the artist online community is not only a great place for friendships among fellow artists, but a great tool for networking, sharing, learning, and teaching. My specialty is in realistic florals, some with a twist, design, murals, commission paintings, decorative and Trompe L`Oeil. I am looking for work that will enhance and diversify what I am capable of doing to fit into any home decor. I think that reaching out beyond my geographical range is how I will achieve this. I look forward to my encounters here at ID Digest.Company Name: Joyce Hutchinson Fine and Decorative ArtistWebsite: http://www.joycesartworld.com (currently being revamped, please be patient.)Email: artclass3@charter.netPhone: 618-566-8696Gallery link: http://www.int-gallery.com/member.php?uid=309&protype=1Country: Mascoutah, Illinois USA |
